Our multi-generational story began with our grandfather when he started working at the Steel St markets in Newcastle. For over 50 years 3 generations of our families have continued working with local growers to offer the freshest produce to the people of the Hunter Region. Read on below.
Dave Turner
- Qualified civil engineer graduating from Newcastle University
- Newcastle born and raised: married with 3 children
- 3rd generation produce merchants grown up in the markets. School holidays consisted of working for father/grandfather/uncle with brother Mark
- Became Director of Courtman and Newton in 1994 until 2019
- In 2019, NewMark Produce was created when he merged with other produce wholesalers at the Newcastle Market
Scott Robson
- Born and raised in Newcastle
- 2nd generation produce merchant
- Started working at Newcastle Markets in 1979 at 18 years old
- Became a Director of Newcastle Fruit Distributors (Trading as Kevin Robson) in 1985
- Merged with Dave Turner in 2019 to create NewMark Produce
Mark Turner
- Dave’s brother
- Newcastle born and raised: currently married with 3 children
- Started working at the markets at 16 when he left school
- Became director of Courtman and Newton in 1994
- Merged with other produce wholesalers in 2019 to form NewMark Produce

1950's
Origins
The Turner Family originally started with David & Mark’s grandfather at the original Steel Street Fruit Markets: Courtman & Newton.
1958
Courtman and Newton
At 15, David and Mark’s father, Peter, began working for his father at Courtman and Newton.
1972
Sandgate
Markets moved from Steel Street to Sandgate.
1987
Family
At 16, Mark followed in his father’s footsteps and began working in the family business.
1994
Directors
Mark and David became Directors of Courtman and Newton.
